Jasper Wood


Canadian violinist, Jasper Wood, has established a flourishing reputation as a soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician. He made his solo orchestral debut at the age of 13 with Symphony Nova Scotia under the baton of the renowned Georg Tintner. Jasper has captivated audiences at prestigious venues such as Dame Myra Hess in Chicago, Carnegie Weill Recital Hall in New York, and the Toronto Centre for the Performing Arts. Originally hailing from Moncton, New Brunswick, he is equally committed to sharing his artistry in smaller communities.

With an impressive discography comprising 13 CDs, Jasper showcases a rich repertoire featuring works by Mozart, Strauss, Debussy, Ravel, Ives, Stravinsky, Bartok, and underrepresented composers, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to contemporary music and commissioned works. His numerous accolades, including recognition from the Juno Awards, East Coast Music Awards, West Coast Music Awards, and the Indie Awards, attest to his musical prowess. Jasper is a familiar presence on airwaves, with appearances on CBC Radio, CBC Television, Bravo Television, and NPR in the United States.

Beyond his performances, Jasper is a passionate advocate for music education. He frequently visits schools and conducts masterclasses, embodying his commitment to nurturing the next generation of musicians. He was co-artistic director of the Young Artist Experiences (YAE), an organization that seamlessly integrates arts, sciences, humanities, and social responsibility through chamber music.

Residing in Vancouver with his wife and two children, Jasper Wood's contributions to the world of classical music extend beyond the stage. He serves as the Artistic Director of the Galiano Concert Society and as Associate Director, Chair of the String Division, and Professor of violin and chamber music at the University of British Columbia.
